Bnai Mitzvah
B. Mitzvahs
Welcome to Temple Beth Sholom’s B. Mitzvah program. We are thrilled to welcome you or your student into deep study and preparations for their Bar, Bat, or B. Mitzvah. TBS views a B. Mitzvah as a community event and has designed our program to allow our B. Mitzvah students to receive support and encouragement from the community as they learn and study for their big day.
A. B. Mitzvah is more than a ceremony, more than a service, more than a party, more than a preparation to read from the Torah and give a talk. Just as the ceremony is not an end but a beginning, so the preparation for it is not just the training for the one specific event, but a continuing process, as much to a person who reaches seventy as it did on the day he, she, or they became thirteen. At TBS, what a B. Mitzvah looks like can be as individual as our students, with a process and ceremony that are meaningful to each student and family.
Education and B. Mitzvah prep happens primarily through our Jewish Heritage School Program, but we also offer alternative tracks for learning.
To start planning your B. Mitzvah celebration please contact Rabbi Josh Weisman at rabbi@tbssanleandro.org and fill out our Facility Rental Inquiry Form to check availability and reserve your preferred date and time.
