Becoming a bar or bat mitzvah is a big deal. Students are lead through this process by our wonderful Rabbi and Cantor. Students usually meet with the Rabbi and Cantor once a week. Students becoming a bar or bat mitzvah at Temple Beth Sholom will learn trope, Haftorah, and their Torah portions with the Cantor.
With the rabbi they will craft their speech about what becoming a bar or bat mitzvah means to them, and come up with a list of 13 mizvot that they will do as a Jewish adult. Students should try to attend Saturday morning services, as this will help them a lot. They will help to lead prayers that they know, and become familiar with the service that they will be leading.
